Quick start guide
- Thoroughly read through the megasquirt and other applicable manuals
- Read through Terms and conditions
- Failure to read and understand the manuals may result in a no-start condition or engine damage.
- setup laptop
- Disconnect battery -ve
- Unplug injectors and ignition coil or ignitor
- Connect earths for ecu
- connect 12v ecu feed with 3a fuse
- install map sensor hose
- connect battery -ve
- connect laptop to ecu
- power ecu and check communication with laptop
- connect all other ecu wires
- power up ecu (with injectors and ignitor still disconnected)
- fuel pump should run for a few seconds when turning ecu on
- calibrate tps, ego, temp sensors
- check inputs correct
- remove spark plugs and crank engine to prime oil pump if engine has not been run for some time
- crank engine and check for rpm reading in tunerstudio
- fuel pump should start when tunerstudio recieved rpm signal
- check manifold vacuum when cranking
- If using ecu controlled radiator fans, temporarily set temp setting low to confirm operation
- power ecu and check that outputs to coil -ve terminals are not earthed. If they are, check ignition settings.
- connect coils and check coils and ignitor are not getting warm
- crank engine and check for spark
- check ignition timing
- connect injectors
- start engine (you may need to alter reqfuel to get engine started)
- once up to temp tune idle
- set ignition timing
- tune no load low rpm working up to mid rpm
- continue tuning…
